DYNAMICS OF BELIEFS AND LEARNING UNDER aL-PROCESSES – THE HETEROGENEOUS CASE

چکیده
This paper studies a class of models in which agents’ expectations influence the actual dynamics while the expectations themselves are the outcome of some recursive processes with bounded memory. Under the assumptions of heterogeneous expectations (or beliefs) and that the agents update their expectations by recursive Land general aL-processes, the dynamics of the resulting expectations and recursive schemes are analyzed. It is shown that the dynamics of the system, including stability, instability and bifurcation, are affected differently by the recursive processes. The cobweb model with a simple heterogeneous expectation scheme is employed as an example to illustrate the stability results, the various types of bifurcations and the routes to complicated price dynamics. In particular, the double edged effect of heterogeneity on the dynamics of the model is demonstrated.

Introduction: Academic procrastination is a behavior that can be created following cognitive beliefs and structures and also be influenced by cognitive processes. Various factors related to perception and abilities play an important role in the occurrence of procrastination. The present study aimed to investigate the mediating role of learning strategies in the relationship between metacognitiv...

متن کاملSpeculative Trade under Ambiguity
Ambiguous beliefs may lead to speculative trade and speculative bubbles. We demonstrate this by showing that the classical Harrison and Kreps (1978) example of speculative trade among agents with heterogeneous beliefs can be replicated with agents having common ambiguous beliefs. More precisely, we show that the same asset prices and pattern of trade can be obtained in equilibrium with agents’ ...
متن کاملStrategic exploitation with learning and heterogeneous beliefs
We study the effect of learning with heterogeneous beliefs on the exploitation of a renewable common-pool resource. To that end, we extend the Great Fish War model of Levhari and Mirman (1980) to a learning environment in which several agents interact strategically and learn about the distribution of the stochastic evolution of the resource. We find that the effect of anticipation of learning w...
